Current Hardware
While I’m fully committed to the Apple environment, I’m no evangelist. I have spent time on a lot of different systems and my motivating factor is simplicity/interoperability.
- 13″ MacBook Pro (♥)
- Very, very happy with this laptop.
- iPhone 8
- iPad
- Sennheiser PXC 550 Wireless (♥) & Powerbeats Pro (♥)
- Love these both and use them daily.
Software/Applications
- 1Password (♥) – Password Management
- 1Password has increased my password security, storage, and peace of mind.
- DropBox – Storage
- Longtime DropBox user. As much as my document access has changed and improved I still use DropBox to organize remote teams, share large files, and organize my life.
- Evernote – Notes
- I have been an Evernote Premium user for a few years. Evernote has been my second brain, storing a lot of the details I need (but forget) and it is where I keep track of numerous lists.
- There are a lot of ways to take notes, if you have a system that works, stick with it. I have always felt exposed using a third-party system for critical notes.
- Feedly (♥) – Blogs/RSS Feeds
- I follow a lot of blogs/RSS feeds. Feedly aggregatess, organizes, and tracks what I’m reading.
- Google Chrome – Browser
- G Suite (Gmail, Goole Docs, Drive, Google Calendar, etc.) & Google Admin
- I use G Suite to manage my personal life, this business, and most remote teams for simple tasks. Google Docs & Sheets aren’t as robust as there Microsoft counterparts and there are benefits in their simplicity and collaboration. G Suites is free and Google Admin is $10/user or less.
- Grammarly (♥) – Grammar & Spelling
- Grammarly keeps me looking and sounding smarter than I am. I pay for Grammarly Pro to keep an eye on my grammar, spelling, etc. I love the weekly summaries of how much content I created and how many errors Grammarly caught.
- iTunes – Podcast – Podcasts
- I listen to a lot of podcasts, this app probably isn’t the best but it’s where I’ve invested.
- Spotify (♥) – Music
- While Siri integrations is much better with Apple Music, Spotify’s playlists and social integrations keep me coming back and paying the monthly fee. Music is my happy place for deep work and I can’t imagine working (or working out) without Spotify.
- Office 365 (Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint) – Professional Documents
- “The more things change, the more they stay the same,” – Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr
Fitness
My sports are mountain biking and yoga. I train to stay fit, reduce the chance of injuries, and to stay sane.
- Fitbod (♥) – Lifting
- I love walking into the gym knowing what I am going to do.
- Peloton – Cardio
- While I wait to make the jump to a Peloton Bike, this app keeps me pedaling through the winter.
- Strava (♥) – Activity Tracking
- MTB Project – Maps and Trail Planning
- Trailforks – Maps and Trail Planning
